Boho Chic - The Rebellious And Trendy Bohemian Style

The bohemian is kind of a subdued rebel(laid back and relaxed- a semi hippie style) who wants to break free  and live life on his own terms. The bohemian style represents a mix of everything with overflowing creativity, oozing with colors and a charm of its own. The bohemian style interiors have become a rage off late and I am a fan too.

The people from all over the saurashra region throng the fair wearing the best emroiderd colourfull clothes and the traditional jewelery. It is a festival of revelry. The place where this fair is celebrated is said to be the place where Draupadi choose Arjuna as her Husband after he won the matsyabhedam competition in her swayamwar.

Buzzing Like The Busy Bees

With so many things to do life is certainly very busy, and I am happy with the fact that these days I don’t actually have time for any negativity or negative thoughts.I am actually blogging like the busy bees. It’s rightly said that an empty mind is a devils workshop, so I am trying to be an angel by keeping my self busy and its QED (quite easily done). Inspiration- you guessed it right the bees. They keep themselves busy but not without a reason!! After all, that hard work they put into building a beehive it is definitely a beauty and an amazing work of architecture.

The Triumph Of Good Over Evil

Just seen RA-one the other day!! The kid says villains are k!ck@ss, and it is so very true. If villains are exciting to watch, the movie is more interesting and even more fun to watch. I doubt if that’s the case with RA-ONE but the villain in this case is much better than the hero G-ONE(it hurts to say that, I am a great SRK fan). Shahrukhs sweet and cute and adorable as shekhar subramanyam but with G-ONE : ( he is just not so convincing.

The villain also gets the best line- tum har sall raavan ko isiliye jalate ho, kyunki tumhe pata hai wo kabhi nahi marta

Shekhars(SRK) has cute habit of quoting anything and anyone from V Shantaram to the verses from Bhagwat Gita. The film gives out a clear message that good always wins over evil however handsome the evil looks ;)

Cute Hand Crafted Book Marks

Have been reading twilight these days and loving it!! Slogging on the computer and then reading a book can be torture to the eyes, so I make it a point not to read too much in one sitting. I have a small brown paper chip to keep between the pages so that I do not miss the page. Since I did not want to spend for a bookmark, I searched the net and found some novel ideas to craft out a book mark for my self.

:)) i can use this book mark for a hair band as well but i am not sure if it will be so gentle with the almost worn out pages of my book.

The origami book mark is unusual, have never seen something like this, it seems to be very easy to use and make.

Cute felt motifs stuck on to ice candy sticks!!Aren't these really cute bookmarks? Confused which one should i go for!! any suggestions? i guess i could make all three and use them alternatively :)

An Evening At An Art And Craft Mela

Diwali is just round the corner and the markets are buzzing with activity!! An utsav 2011 mela was set up in the city and we planned a visit!! Its been just a while I started blogging and not yet used to taking my camera every where I go!! Thoughts definitely remain occupied thinking about the blog and what to post next!!  So finally without a camera and a mobile with a low battery I managed as many pics as I could. Now here I am compensating the quality of pics with quantity!!

Just as you enter a sea of lots and lots of crockery’s, mugs and pots and lots of pottery meets the eye.

The mela was full of fun, food, flowers, colors and lights. The shopkeepers displayed their goods with such amazing skills that would put a designer to shame.

It was no high-end home décor Shoppe with great lighting. It was just an open space and the products were placed on the ground. But the display and beauty and the artistry was just matchless.

Artistic diyas (oil and wick lights) these are the ones where you can light the multiple diyas fill the center with water and float flowers in it! – remember deepavali is a festival of lights. I was disappointed not to find any rangoli colors. Ill have to get them from elsewhere.

A small shop with floating diyas lit up and kept for display really made me feel like Diwali was here!!
To be continued..

Look Into The Future

Now if only some body could make a gadget that could do that. Here is a video I found on you tube and felt like WOW!! Its like creating your world around a gadget!! What all things it can do!! Even stand on the table like a flower vase.

Any new technology, new concept and new gadget and we are ready to lap it up and feel awed and ogle with wonder. Sometimes I feel like all this is too much. Too much of dependence on gadgets, internet and surreal things. Only till I see another new mind boggling concept on the block! Way to go, isn’t it??

I wandered lonely as a cloud

I love to read more of stories and fiction rather than reading philosophy or poems!! But this poem by William words worth is an absolute delight and literally fills my heart with joy each time I read it!!

Daffodils

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling leaves in glee;
A poet could not be but gay,
In such a jocund company!
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Naturally Curious

So very true...

What’s the worst thing to lose as we get older??
our hair? our teeth? OUR CURIOSITY

Losing the curiosity to know things and to explore is like loosing life!! Curiosity leads to adventures, it leads to newer experiences  and it lets your imagination grow!!  Feel young forever,  by being naturally curious.

Wake Up And Get Going!!

Zzzzz my blog’s been sleeping for so many days so many months actually!! I shook it up and woke it up today.. date: 15:10:2011 time:8:00 AM India. It yawned and looked up at me with heavy eyes as if it woke up from a dream. WHAT?? it looked quizzingly at me. Wake up you lazy bum!! Do some activity!! Keep yourself updated talk to your neighbors and make new friends!
The activity started by brushing up a little!! Brushing up the bloooggg!! It started, by designing the header. Ummm.. it turned out OK, not as great as I wanted it to be, but at least I m started!! Ill upload a better one when I have time.

Blog:  Excuse me... enough of your ranting on… write something worthwhile or do something else!! What about some breakfast? I am hungry!!

Me: Humm right!! What will you have??

Blog:  what can you make??

Me:   Ummmmmm..the ummm went on for sometime but I couldn’t think of anything else, Poha!! So done POHA!! I like them with onions better than potatoes. You will love them too..

Recipe for my favourite kanda poha (a well known Indian breakfast)
Quick and easy to make

Ingredients

• Thick poha
• Onions (kanda)
• Chopped green chilly
• Turmeric powder (Haldi)
• Mustard seeds (rai)
• Cumin (Jeera)
• Curry leaf (kadi patta)
• Cinnamon (Dal chini powder)
• Grated Ginger(adrakh)
• Sugar
• Salt
• Black pepper powder (kali mirch)
• Red pepper powder (lal mirch)

Method:
© Preety Paranjape & D’zineDais
Chop onions and green chilly, Grate some ginger.
Dampen the poha (flattened rice) they should me moist and nice!! Too much water will spoil the texture! Add sugar, salt, red pepper powder, black pepper powder and mix.
Now heat some oil and add cumin seeds and let the m  crackle. Now add jeera, green chillies, curry leaves, garlic, haldi and then add the onions. Cook till the onions turn golden brown!! Add the poha and mix well. Add salt to taste and some lemon juice. Mix well and serve.
You can use finely chopped coriander and grated fresh coconut to garnish the dish.
(A handful of poha is good enough for one person. So take the number of handfuls according to the number of servings)
